Hey y'all!
So this week was pretty great. We had a
pretty open week because we had a few appointments fall through but it
made for some pretty fun experiences!
1.) We had a bit of time
one evening, and went to finish a street we had started tracting a few
days earlier. We met Todd. He says; "He has found Jesus:! ( by the way we
are 100% sure he was high when he answered the door.) But his cousin was
at the back door smoking and he wasn't high. Todd was like; "I think
Derek needs Jesus though."
"Hey Derek do you need Jesus?"
So we found a new! He has been looking for a reason to get back to church and was interested.
2.) We had Nick and Lindsay finally come to the church building. We had a
church tour with them. It has only taken 7 years for them to come, but they felt the
spirit and want to come on Sunday!
3.) Kevin W. Pearson of the
seventy came for stake conf. and it was great! He got down to business
and talked missionary work and having faith. It was amazing!
4.) We went to a multi faith concert last night at the Catholic church and
we sat beside one of Justin Bieber's high school teachers. haha. He told
us he kicked him out of class a few times. haha.
5.) Nick our investigator grew up with Jeremy Bieber, his dad. so yeah! haha.
It's been a great week!
Love you all!
Have a great week!
Love Sister St.Onge
Insert from Sis. Hudson's letter this week about their area.
We
have been meeting every week with an investigator who's preparing for
baptism, she is so cool! Amidst everything she is going through right
now she reads the Book of Mormon every day because she know's that's
what the prophet President Monson has asked of us all and it's what
Heavenly Father has provided for our days to find understanding and
truth in our lives.
Of all the people we teach, one of my favourite opportunities has been to meet with an older man who's investigated the church for years and insists he won't join. Well, when we sat and listened to him this week, he kept having to say "not that I want to get your hopes up, but..." and then he'd say something about his desire to go to Stake Conference or about the good things about the church.
Most people here don't want to hear our message so it was a miracle one night when, after much praying and hard work, we dropped by a former investigator and the man who answered said she moved elsewhere in the city. As we ran in the car (it's like, super rainy out here), I had a prompting to call her phone number right away. (To our somewhat surprise) she said she would like to meet with us this week! So we are looking forward to meeting her :)
We met this guy on the day we visited Shakespeare who was all like "I don't need you to come back and share your message," but he really wanted to explain to us why God doesn't exist and as we talked more we told him if he reads the Book of Mormon that it is evidence of God, we asked if we could call him next week and see how it went and he was like "No you'll have to come back so we can talk about it more after I read a bit." haha so we are meeting with him again after all!
